British scientists have shown that water plays an essential role in weight loss. Of course, the secret is not to starve yourself and drink only water, but to drink half a liter of water before every meal.

The scientists from Birmingham gathered a group of obese people. They divided them in half and nutritionists gave a list of healthy foods for both groups. The scientists instructed one group to drink half a liter of water before their meals and the other to think that they are full before a meal.

The research lasted for 3 months and showed that the group who drank water lost more than 4 kilograms on average, while the other group lost less than 1 kilogram.
